Kajabi Review 2026: Is It Worth $179 a Month?

Written by people who pay for this software · Pricing and offer terms checked August 2026 · Destination links auto-checked 21 August 2026

We run a course and coaching business on Kajabi, so this is a customer's review rather than a feature tour — what earns its keep day to day, what genuinely irritates us, and the situations where we would tell you to spend the money somewhere else.

Our verdict in one paragraph: we would buy it again if you sell courses, coaching or memberships and you want one system doing the selling, the emailing and the delivering. It replaces four or five subscriptions, takes 0% of your revenue, and after the September 2025 update it finally has a community and a coaching product worth using rather than tolerating. It is a pass if you sell one cheap course, if organic blog traffic is your growth engine, or if you have not validated an offer yet. Rated 4.3 out of 5.

What we are actually paying for

Kajabi launched in 2010 and calls itself a creator-commerce platform. In practice it is five products in one subscription: a course and membership host, an email marketing platform with visual automations, a website and landing-page builder, a checkout, and — since 2025 — a community and a native coaching tool. Everything shares one contact database, which is the actual argument for it. When someone buys, the tag, the email sequence, the course access and the receipt all happen in the same place, without a connector in between.

Kajabi's 2026 reporting puts more than $11.7 billion in cumulative creator revenue through the platform since 2010 across 100,000-plus creators, with roughly 1,800 creators past $1 million in lifetime sales and 70-plus past $10 million. Average creator earnings were given as around $190,000, and multi-product creators were said to earn about 4.5× single-product creators. Those are the company's own figures and they describe survivors rather than the average sign-up — but they do establish that the platform carries real businesses at scale.

What changed in September 2025

The 2025 platform update is why older reviews read oddly today. Five things moved:

Feature by feature

Course and product builder

Solid rather than spectacular. Modules, lessons, drip schedules, prerequisites, quizzes and assessments are all there, and the templates get a course live quickly. The player is clean on desktop and good in the member app. If you want an LMS with deep scoring and certification logic, a dedicated LMS still beats it; for a normal paid course it is more than enough.

Email marketing and automations

This is the part that justifies the bill. Unlimited emails on every plan, broadcasts, sequences, segmentation on behaviour and purchases, and visual automations that branch on what someone actually did. Most creators arriving from a $50-a-month email tool find they can cancel it outright, and the deliverability of Kajabi's sending has not been a recurring complaint.

Landing pages, funnels and website

Unlimited pages and funnels on every plan, with a builder that is comfortable rather than pixel-perfect. You will not out-design a dedicated page builder, and the blog is basic — genuinely basic. If your traffic plan is "rank articles in Google", Kajabi is the wrong home for those articles.

Checkout and payments

Order bumps, upsells, payment plans, trials and coupons are all supported. Kajabi Payments runs at roughly 2.9% + 30¢ with no platform fee; connecting your own Stripe instead adds a surcharge of 2% on Basic, 1% on Growth and 0.5% on Pro. That surcharge catches people out, and on Basic it can cost more than the subscription.

Community and coaching

The community is now good enough to be the reason you stay rather than the thing you apologise for: spaces, events, leaderboards and a real mobile experience. Coaching handles packages, session scheduling and notes natively. Neither will beat a specialist tool on every feature — Circle and Skool are still better pure communities — but neither needs a separate bill any more.

Analytics and AI

Reporting covers revenue, funnel conversion, email engagement and product progress, which is enough to run the business without exporting to a spreadsheet. Kajabi AI is best treated as a first-draft machine: useful for outlines, subject lines and page copy you then rewrite, not a substitute for knowing your subject.

Pros and cons after a full look

What works well

  • One contact database behind courses, emails, checkout, community and coaching — no connector tax.
  • 0% revenue share on every paid plan, which matters more the more you sell.
  • Unlimited emails, landing pages and funnels even on the entry tiers.
  • Communities and coaching now included rather than upsold.
  • Templates and AI drafting make a launch in the first 30 days realistic.
  • A genuinely good member mobile app, which very few competitors match.

What to watch out for

  • Entry price is high next to course-only platforms — the objection is real, not imagined.
  • Basic caps you at 2,500 contacts; growing lists get pushed to $249 Growth.
  • Blogging and content SEO are weak; plan traffic elsewhere.
  • Connecting your own Stripe adds a 2% surcharge on Basic.
  • Broad platform, real learning curve — a 14-day trial is not enough to judge it.
  • Page design flexibility is behind dedicated page builders.

How we score it

Our category scores, out of 5.
CategoryScoreWhy
Course & product delivery4.5Clean, reliable, good mobile app; not a full LMS.
Email & automation4.5Unlimited sends, visual branching, behaviour segmentation.
Pages & funnels4.0Fast to launch, less flexible than dedicated builders.
Checkout & payments4.50% revenue share; watch the third-party Stripe surcharge.
Community & coaching4.0Included and usable; specialists still edge it on depth.
Value for money3.5Justified by consolidation, not by the sticker price.
Overall4.3The strongest all-in-one for knowledge products in 2026.

Who should buy it — and who should not

Buy Kajabi if you: sell courses, coaching or a membership; already pay for three or more separate tools; want your community and content under one login; are moving off a platform that takes a percentage of sales; or run a team of two to eleven people who need their own logins.

Do not buy Kajabi if you: have not sold the offer yet; sell one low-priced course sporadically; need blog-driven SEO as your main channel; want maximum design control on landing pages; or need advanced certification and grading, where a dedicated LMS wins.

What we would use instead, honestly

For a pure paid community with light content, Membership.io costs less and does content search better. For conversion-led selling with heavy upsell flows, ClickFunnels is the specialist. For a single cheap course, a lighter course host will do the job for a fraction of the money — our alternatives page lays out the trade-offs without pretending the cheap options are equivalent.

The verdict

Kajabi earns its price when it replaces a stack, and earns nothing when it does not — that is the whole test, and it is the one we applied to our own account. If you are juggling a course host, an email tool and a page builder today, consolidating into one subscription with 0% revenue share is a straightforward improvement, and the $99 for three months offer removes most of the risk of finding out — $99 against $537 for the same quarter, cancel any time, renewing at $179 unless you stop it. Frequently asked questions

Is Kajabi worth it in 2026?

It is worth it if you sell knowledge products and you would otherwise pay for a course host, an email platform, a page builder, a checkout tool and a community app separately. It is not worth it if you sell one small course occasionally, or if your growth comes from blog SEO — Kajabi is a selling and delivery platform, not a publishing one.

What is the biggest weakness of Kajabi?

Price relative to the entry tiers of course-only platforms, and the 2,500-contact ceiling on the Basic plan. Both are survivable; both are the reason people leave. The third, quieter weakness is that it is a lot of platform to learn, which is why a 90-day runway matters more than a 14-day trial.

Is there a Kajabi discount or coupon code?

Kajabi has no promo-code field at checkout, so public coupon codes are not a thing. Discounts come in two forms: annual billing, which cuts about 20%, and partner offers such as three months of Basic for one $99 payment. Terms verified August 2026 — confirm at checkout.

Does Kajabi work for coaching as well as courses?

Yes, and since September 2025 coaching is a native product type rather than a workaround with a calendar link. You can sell a coaching package, schedule sessions, keep client notes and deliver supporting course content in the same account. We cover the setup in detail on our Kajabi for coaches page.

How does Kajabi compare with cheaper course platforms?

Cheaper platforms usually win on entry price and lose on marketing. Their lower tiers often carry transaction fees and expect you to bring your own email tool, landing pages and automations. Kajabi charges more up front and takes 0% of your sales. Which is cheaper depends on your revenue, not on the sticker price.

Can I move my content off Kajabi later?

You can export contacts and download your own files, and courses can be rebuilt elsewhere, but there is no one-click migration to a competitor — that is true of every platform in this category. The practical protection is keeping master copies of your videos and your email list outside the platform from day one.
