Kajabi for Coaches (2026): Coaching, Courses & Community

Written by people who pay for this software · Pricing and offer terms checked August 2026 · Destination links auto-checked 21 August 2026

Coaching businesses have an awkward shape: 1:1 sessions, a group programme, some self-paced content, a community, and email holding it all together. We run ours on Kajabi — here is how those five pieces actually fit together, and the bits that still annoy us.

When we started, the honest answer to "is Kajabi good for coaches?" was "it is good for course creators who also coach". That changed when Kajabi made Coaching a native product type, with session scheduling and client notes built in, alongside making communities free on every plan. A coaching business no longer has to pay for a scheduler, a community app and a course host separately.

One thing Kajabi does not do for you is fill the calendar. Demand generation is a separate discipline with its own blueprints — the discovery-call, webinar and application funnels are laid out side by side in our coaching funnel guide, and the discovery-call script covers the conversation those funnels deliver people into.

What a coaching business needs, and where Kajabi puts it

The five jobs of a coaching business, mapped to Kajabi.
The jobHow Kajabi does itWhat it replaces

The reason this matters is not tidiness — it is that a client's purchase, session history, course progress, community activity and email engagement sit on one contact record. When you send "you have not booked a session in three weeks", you can actually target the people it is true for.

Three coaching setups that work on Basic

1. The solo 1:1 coach

One coaching product for the main package, one short course as a paid entry offer, and a free lead magnet. Sessions are booked through the coaching product; pre-work and worksheets live in the course; the email sequence nurtures people between enquiry and booking. That is three of your five product slots, well inside the Basic plan.

2. The group programme

Structure, session format and pricing for this one are covered in full on our group coaching guide.

A cohort programme built as a course for the curriculum, plus a community space for the cohort, plus scheduled group calls. Kajabi's drip scheduling keeps everyone moving at the same pace, and community events hold the calls. Add a private 1:1 upgrade as a second coaching product, and the same list buys twice.

3. The hybrid: content front door, coaching back end

A self-paced course sells at a low price to a wide audience; buyers get an automated sequence that qualifies them for a coaching application. This is the setup Kajabi's own data points at — the company's August 2025 announcement said multi-product creators earn roughly 4.5× single-product ones, and coaching is the natural high-value second product.

What to charge for any of the three, with the ICF and Paperbell rate data behind it, is on the coaching packages and pricing page.

Setting it up in your first 30 days

  1. Week 1 — one offer live. Create the coaching product, set your session length and availability, write the sales page from a template, and connect a custom domain and payments. Do not build the curriculum yet.
  2. Week 2 — the front door. Publish a lead magnet, a landing page and a three-email welcome sequence that ends with an invitation to book. This is what turns Kajabi from a filing cabinet into a business system.
  3. Week 3 — deliver something. Build the first two modules of supporting content and open a community space for clients. Two good modules beat twelve planned ones.
  4. Week 4 — automate the follow-up. Tag clients on purchase, trigger onboarding, and set a nudge for anyone who has not booked within seven days. Then run one promotion to your existing list.

Why the 90-day runway matters here. A coaching business takes longer to set up than a course, because you are wiring scheduling, delivery, community and email at once. A 14-day trial will not get you there. The $99 three-month offer gives you a full quarter of the Basic plan for less than one month at list price — enough time to enrol a cohort and see the whole cycle. Honest pros and cons for coaches specifically

What works well

  • Coaching, courses and community on one contact record — no connector tax.
  • Native session scheduling and client notes since September 2025.
  • Unlimited email with behaviour-based automations included in the plan.
  • Payment plans and instalments handled natively at checkout.
  • 0% revenue share — high-ticket coaching keeps every dollar above processing.
  • Member mobile app keeps clients engaged between sessions.

What to watch out for

  • $179/mo on Basic is real money before you have clients.
  • 2,500-contact cap arrives quickly if lead magnets work.
  • Scheduling is good, not best-in-class — complex availability may still want a dedicated tool.
  • No native invoicing or proposals for corporate clients.
  • Weak blogging, so inbound content marketing lives elsewhere.
  • It does not find clients for you — demand generation is still your job.

Who should not use Kajabi for coaching

If you coach a handful of clients found entirely by referral, and you have no intention of selling content, this is too much platform — a scheduling tool and an invoicing app will serve you better and cost a fraction. If your model is a large paid community with light coaching attached, look at Membership.io, where unlimited members and 0% fees suit that shape better. And if you are selling coaching to cold paid traffic with a heavy application funnel, ClickFunnels is the specialist.

Kajabi earns its keep for the coach in the middle: an audience worth emailing, more than one offer, clients who want content between sessions, and no appetite for maintaining five subscriptions.

Frequently asked questions

Is Kajabi good for coaches?

Yes, and materially better since September 2025, when coaching became a native product type rather than a course with a scheduling link bolted on. You can sell a package, schedule sessions, keep client notes, deliver supporting course content and run a client community from one account with one contact record per client.

Which Kajabi plan do coaches need?

Basic at $179 a month covers most solo coaches: five products, 2,500 contacts, two admin users and a custom domain. You move to Growth at $249 when your list passes 2,500 or when you need more than two logins — not because of a feature you are missing.

Can I sell 1:1 coaching and group programmes in the same account?

Yes. A typical setup is one 1:1 package, one group programme with a cohort community, and a self-paced course as the entry offer. That is three of your five product slots on Basic, with room for a lead magnet.

Does Kajabi handle scheduling, or do I need Calendly?

Coaching sessions can be scheduled natively as part of the coaching product, which is the point of the 2025 change. Coaches with unusual availability rules or multi-person bookings sometimes still prefer a dedicated scheduling tool, but for standard one-to-one sessions the built-in flow is enough.

How do coaches actually get clients on Kajabi?

The platform sells and delivers; it does not generate demand. The pattern that works is a free lead magnet, an email sequence, and a low-friction call booking or an entry-level course that qualifies people for the coaching offer. Kajabi runs all four of those steps; the audience-building still happens on whatever channel you are good at.

Is there a discount for coaches?

No coach-specific pricing, but the partner offer of three months of Basic for one $99 payment applies to any new customer. That is $99 instead of $537 for your first quarter, renewing at $179 unless you cancel. Terms verified August 2026 — confirm at checkout.
